Don’t Travel on Worn Tires: An Education

November 25th, 2019 by
Are you are ready to hit the road for the holiday season? You’ve made your plans for your stay and know how to get to your destination. Are you thinking about driving to see the family, this year? You may not be as prepared as you might think. Have you even thought about your tires? If not, there is no better time, than now, to make sure they are good-to-go for your big family vacation to Ottawa or Tiffin. Let the service team at LaRiche Chevrolet Cadillac in Findlay, OH check for you.

Nothing can ruin a fun-filled family trip quicker than a bad set of tires. Few things can take your breath away as quickly as sliding on a patch of ice on your way to North Baltimore or Fotsoria, because your tires lack the tread to sufficiently grab the road. Fortunately, there are ways you can be proactive in keeping your tires in good working order, so you can make it to Upper Sandusky safely.

How to Check Tire Wear

Your tread depth is vital when it comes to your tires. The deeper the tread, the more grip you get on the road. Typically, one look at your tires and you will be able to tell if they are getting dangerous wear and tear. But it won’t always be that simple. There is a test you can do to determine your tread depth:

  • Hold a penny upside down in your tire’s groove
  • If you see all of President Lincoln’s head, it is time to replace your tires
  • If you see any of the tread bar indicators on your tire, it is time to replace your tires

You Need New Tires. What Now?

Now that you’ve determined you need new tires, what should you do now? The simple answer is contact LaRiche Chevrolet Cadillac and let us worry about it.
